Help A Hound Series: Hanella & Aria

My good friend and fellow rescue volunteer, Angela, and I went to our local shelter to do a story on a pup available for adoption.  Upon arriving, the shelter manager gave us the privilege of doing a story on two adorable pups!  The dogs just happened to be kennel mates, so they were already pals!

Meet Hanella!

Hanella is an adorable white and tan hound mix.  With wonderful floppy ears, a bobbed tail, and cute little freckles, she is a bundle of cuteness!   Hanella is a young adult that came to the shelter as a stray.  I would guess her to be between one and two years old.  She is up to date on all of her vaccines, and her spay surgery will be included in her adoption fee.  Hanella is dog friendly, and she is also heartworm negative.  All Hanella needs now is a family to call her own!

Hanella

I most certainly believe in love at first sight!  Just look at that smile!  Hanella quickly captured my heart with her wonderful demeanor.  She was nothing but sweet and lovable.  I mean, who wouldn't fall in love with those floppy ears, sweet eyes, and happy smile?

Hanella was a bit timid at first, but quickly learned that we were there with treats and lots of love for her!  I can't even remember how many kisses I got from this sweetie!

When we took the girls for a walk, Hanella was very nervous walking in front of all of the barking dogs, but as soon as we made it outside, she was one happy girl!  The shelter can be a scary place for dogs, but they quickly blossom once they enter their forever homes.  I have seen it time and time again with my fosters.  I believe that Hanella's nervousness will dissipate once she enters her loving forever home.  Within just minutes of meeting Angela and me, she became our best friend!  She is truly a sweetheart!

Meet Aria!

Aria

Aria is a gorgeous Bluetick Coonhound mix.  She is exactly one year old!  Her birthday was August 15, 2012.  She was born in the shelter.  As a young pup, Aria was adopted to a family, but after being with this family a little while, she was given to another family.  Aria's second family had her for about a month before they turned her back into the shelter when they moved.  Now Aria is patiently waiting for her FOREVER family to find her.  She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her vaccines, heartworm negative, and dog friendly.  Aria is more than ready to be your next best friend!

Aria was an absolute sweetheart!  She was also one smart cookie as she knew how to sit for her treats!  What a good girl!  Aria thoroughly enjoyed her walk with us and soaked up her attention.  It was an absolute pleasure to spend the afternoon with her and Hanella.

Angela and I took the girls for a walk so they could stretch their legs and have a little fun.  As hounds do, they thoroughly enjoyed a good sniff together!

Hey, did you smell that?

The girls enjoyed their walk so much!  They didn't even mind stopping for a few photo opportunities.  The camera loved them :)

Aria and Hanella love to play with each other!  Tug of war is their favorite game.  Although they were mostly interested in us while we were there, we did get to see them play a bit together.  It was adorable!  Both of these girls would make a wonderful addition to any family!

Playtime!

Angela and I of course got lots of snuggles and kisses while we were there.  We thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!

The time came for us to leave.  It is so much fun to spend time with the dogs.  And they absolutely love the attention!  It's definitely a win-win for both me and the dogs.  (Hint...hint...you should totally volunteer!  You won't regret it!)  Before we left, I stopped to say hello to Farrah and Elvis.  They are also still available for adoption!  Please contact the SPCA for more information on any of the dogs in the Help a Hound series.  Their wonderful staff would be happy to help you!

The adoption fee for dogs is only $85.00.  The adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations including rabies, a microchip, dewormer, collar & tag, and 30 days of free pet insurance with registration.  Not to mention years of love and affection from your new best friend.

Here is a video of the girls together.  Please share them so their forever families can find them.  Thank you for helping a hound (or two!)

  5. Oh boy, Hanella and Aria are both a couple of cutie-beauties! I admit to having a soft spot for hounds of all varieties. And they seem to both have absolutely sweet dispositions. I'd probably find excuses to go back to the shelter just to visit these two.
    Will definitely share these ladies!

    1. Thank you, Pam! They are cutie-beauties for sure! Hounds of all varieties are a soft spot for me, too! I have two hounds and my mom has two beagles. I love highlighting what wonderful dogs they are because I feel they are overlooked as "hunting" dogs when in reality, they make perfect family companions. Thank you for sharing!
