Topaz Goes to her Forever Family!

On April 23, 2013, Ben & I stepped up to temporarily foster a sweet girl named Topaz.  We of course fell in love with her and agreed to foster her until she found her forever family.  I mean, who wouldn't fall in love with this 28 pound brindle bundle of joy?

I have told you before that I believe things happen for a reason.  I believe we were meant to have Topaz for longer than three days.  I believe that her first family that applied to adopt her backed out for a reason.  Why?  So she was still available to be adopted by the perfect forever family.  Who was lucky enough to get to add sweet Topaz to their family?  My in-laws!  Ben's parents fell in love with Topaz and decided she would fit perfectly into their family!

Topaz was thirsty!

Topaz was with us for 47 days.  We thoroughly enjoyed having her in our home.  She loved being here as well.  She absolutely adored her foster brother, Cooper.  She would constantly give him kisses and cuddle with him.  He was so sweet to her, even though you could tell she was pestering him sometimes.  Topaz was a pup in love!

Topaz also loved her foster sisters, especially June.  June is our playful girl.  Topaz and June would chase each other, play toys, and romp around the house together constantly.  They of course snuggled together as well.

Sorry the photo is backlit, but they were just too sweet not to share!

Topaz was a very sweet girl that wanted nothing more than to be loved.  She loved to snuggle.  She thoroughly enjoyed sleeping in a cozy ball in bed right next to her foster dad.  Ben loved her so!

We had a nickname for Topaz at our house.  It isn't quite what you would expect.  We called her "Monster".  We started calling her this because she was a cuddle monster.  Then we would say, "Monster attack!" when she would cover us in kisses.  It was just so cute and funny that it stuck.  She was the farthest thing from a monster of course!

The day of Topaz's transport to Indiana.

Topaz left us on June 8, 2013.  We were very sad to say goodbye to her, but we were happy that we would see her again.  Topaz headed on a volunteer rescue transport to Indiana.  She went on a two day journey to her new home.  I cannot wait until we get to see her again one day.  She will forever be our little monster.

Do you have any strange nicknames for your pups?  I would love to hear them! :)

  1. It's always a little sad when a foster leaves but joyous that they've got their own furever home...Gizmo has so many nicknames it's embarrassing...he doesn't care as long as the cookies keep coming

    1. It is sad, but so rewarding! I love it! The saddest member of our household was our hound, June. June and Topaz were best buddies! June pouted for at least a week after Topaz left.

I bet Gizmo has some adorable nicknames :). I hope you both have a great day :)

  7. Dory's nickname is Granny because she is older and sadly has a harder time getting around. She actually responds to it now! My dad and nephew call Toby 'Baby Boy'. He also gets Tobe, Tobbers, and Mister. Heck, I think he would answer to anything! Miss Daisy is just Miss Daisy. She is too proper for a nickname!
